Terms & Conditions

Last updated: March 2026  ·  StandTool / StandTool

Please read these Terms carefully before using StandTool. By creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering an account or using the StandTool platform (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. StandTool is operated by StandTool.

2. Description of Service

StandTool is a tool registration and theft-prevention platform. It allows tradespeople and members of the public to register tools by serial number and search the database to check whether a tool has been reported stolen or lost. The Service is provided free of charge to individual users.

3. User Accounts

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to register. You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their permission.

4. Accuracy of Information

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit, including serial numbers, make, model, and status. You must only register tools that you own or have legal authority to register. Submitting false information — including falsely reporting a tool as stolen — is prohibited and may constitute a criminal offence.

5. Prohibited Use

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; submit false, misleading, or fraudulent tool records; attempt to access another user's account; scrape, copy, or reproduce the database; use the Service to harass, intimidate, or deceive others; or interfere with the operation of the platform.

6. Stolen Tool Reporting

When you report a tool as stolen, you confirm that the tool has genuinely been stolen and that you have reported the theft to the police and obtained a crime reference number where possible. StandTool does not verify theft claims and accepts no liability for incorrect reports. Deliberately false stolen reports may be referred to the appropriate authorities.

7. Public Search

The serial number search function is available to the general public without an account. Search results display tool status and basic details only. By registering a tool, you consent to its make, model, serial number, and status being publicly searchable. No personal information is displayed in search results.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, and software comprising the StandTool platform is the property of StandTool or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without prior written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

StandTool is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service, including loss of tools, failed recoveries, or reliance on search results. The Service is a tool to assist with theft prevention and recovery — it does not guarantee recovery of stolen property.

10. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the processing of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, your tool records will be removed from the database.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users of material changes.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
